As a painter,I am very influenced by my lifetime of work as a graphic designer.
The simultaneous intellectual/visceral/emotional experience of painting is as conceptual as designing,
but with more freedom and immediacy, and with considerably less meetings.
As a designer, painting abstracts and montages is a very natural way for me to express myself and allows me
to create a world with little concern for representation and the opportunity for a lot of experimentation.
The process of painting is euphoric. In 1959 the late George Pappas, a painter who taught graphic design,
taught me something about design but a whole lot about the joy of a creative life.
My paintings are acrylic, very heavily textured using large amounts of modeling mediums, and range from 3x2
feet to 4x4 feet in size.
